“Great Encounters of MPB,” written by Pedro Bricio and directed by Sergio Modena, takes place in a relaxed atmosphere, as if the cast were a group of friends gathered at a party. Through humorous anecdotes, stories, and interesting facts, the actors recount the personal and professional journeys that shaped Brazil’s musical heritage beginning in the 1960s. The central focus is to show that these great artistic connections were, above all, life-changing encounters. The musical takes a journey through time, exploring various genres and movements in our culture, including Bossa Nova, Jovem Guarda, Samba, Brazilian Rock, and Northeastern Brazilian music.
